Much Different Result For Blue Streaks In Rematch With Case Reserve

Dan Potter had a good view of the plate all day, scoring two runs, driving in two and collecting four hits against Case Reseve
The last time these two teams met constituted the low point of the season for John Carroll. A non-competitive 15-0 loss at home to the Case Spartans sank the Blue Streaks to 9-13 on the year.

Wednesday at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland, one of the year's higher points was achieved.

JCU turned the tables on Case, a team that received votes in this week's D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 poll, with a 16-hit attack that led to an 11-6 victory.

Box Score

JCU scored seven of its 11 runs in the final three innings to break open what had been a close game.

The Blue Streaks surged ahead 4-1 but two Case runs in the bottom of the fifth cut the JCU lead down to a single tally.

Aided by a shaky Case defense, John Carroll began to pull away in the seventh. After scoring a pair of runs on RBI hits from Ryan Konsler and Joe veltri, the Streaks added three more in the eighth. Johnny Hastings, who had a solo home run in the fourth, and Tom Hickey plated one run each during the frame.

Dan Potter and Chris Larry drove in the two ninth inning runs to ice the game away.

Robbie Bellusci earned the win in relief, improving to 2-3 on the season. Five JCU pitchers limited the Spartans to eight hits over nine innings.
