The Bluestreaks went into the weekend looking to bounce back from a loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers, and they would do so in exciting fashion. JCU started the weekend off against the Tigers of Rochester Institute of Technology. RIT started the scoring in the second period with a goal 44 seconds in. Forward
Lou Morici would answer the goal minutes later, with assists going to Jesse Dietrick and
Geoff Abrahams. The three would prove to be the winning combo as they would combine two more times to lead JCU to victory. RIT fought back scoring two unanswered goals late in the third period to cut the lead to 4-3. The empty netter by Dan Potter gave the final score of 5-3.
John Carroll would be in a thriller on Saturday as well in a crucial CHMA league game against Pittsburgh. The Bluestreaks struck first scoring the lone goal of the first period. The second period saw JCU and Pittsburgh swap key power play goals that would give John Carroll a close 2-1 lead heading into the third period. Pittsburgh fought back hard in the third to score the equalizing goal midway through the period sending the game to overtime. The overtime period was a back and forth affair, and just as it seemed destined for a shootout, senior forward
Danny Geiger scored an unassisted goal with 1:14 left in overtime.
The Bluestreaks come out of the weekend with a record of 20-12-0 and look ahead to two more important CHMA games. JCU plays Slippery Rock on Friday at home before heading to Duquesne on Sunday.
