Box Score 2 John Carroll earned a split of its two-game stint at the Muskingum Invitational, defeating Montclair State, 6-4, in the opener before falling to host Muskingum by the identical score in the nightcap.

Against Montclair State, John Carroll was deadlocked with the Red Hawks at 3-3 entering the bottom of the eighth inning. The Blue Streaks broke the tie thanks to a sacrifice fly by
Ryan Konsler, an RBI single by
Joe Veltri and a pinch hit run scoring single by
Tyler Gerling.
Kevin Rosinski recorded the final three outs for the save in support of
Patrick Stump, who earned his second win of the season in relief.
Veltri ended the game 2-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Aaron Miller and
Mark Huddle also added two hits to the attack.
John Carroll held an early 2-1 lead against Muskingum, but the host team tallied three runs in the bottom of the third and never trailed again. The Blue Streaks closed to within 5-4 in the seventh inning, but that would be as close as they would get.
JCU outhit Muskingum by a 10-8 count but lost to the Muskies for the second time this month. JCU dropped a 12-6 decision against its conference rival in Florida on March 10.
Huddle led the offense by going 2-4 with three RBI, including his first home run as a Blue Streak.
Joe Bossard pitched four innings of relief, allowing one run on four hits and striking out three.
John Carroll is now 5-8 on the season.
