Bobby Sabatino made his first career start count, going 2-5 with two runs scored to help the Blue Streaks score a season-high eight runs in an 8-4 victory over Bluffton University Tuesday afternoon in Port Charlotte, Florida.

David Lykens drove in a pair of runs as part of a four-run sixth inning, while Sabatino and Jimmy Spagna each had RBI hits in the seventh to help the Blue Streaks pull away.

The offense was in support of Robbie Bellusci and Patrick O'Brien, who combined to allow just three earned runs in nine innings of work. Bellusci picked up the win while O'Brien logged three innings for the save.

JCU began the season with a pair of losses in Beckley, West Virginia, against Case Reserve on February 24.

On Monday, the Blue Streaks squared off against Moravian, but the offense struggled in a pair of losses, 1-0 and 5-1.

The one run game in the opener featured a stellar debut by John Carroll sophomore Anthony Libertini, who allowed just one unearned run on just two hits during his six innings of work. He struck out five and walked only two in taking the hard-luck loss.

In the nightcap, Huddle, Mitchell Herringshaw and Ryan Konsler accounted for six of John Carroll's seven hits, with Herringshaw collecting a double and triple.
