Box Score 2 In what has become a trend for the John Carroll baseball team, the Blue Streaks won when they scored first Friday afternoon at Schweickert Field.
Unfortunately for the Blue & Gold, Wilmington struck the initial blow in Game One of the doubleheader, eventually taking the 6-2 victory. Game Two was a different story, as JCU put the first four across home plate on the way to a 14-5 drubbing of the Quakers to earn the split.
The first contest was scoreless until the top of the fourth, when Wilmington put two on the board thanks to an RBI single by Luke Teeters and an error on
Mitchell Herringshaw. The Quakers added a run in the fifth, which was enough for Hunter Justus, who allowed just one run in four innings on the mound to earn his first win of 2012.
The loss spoiled a solid pitching performance by
Jimmy Spagna, who surrendered six hits and three earned runs in six and-a-third innings to receive the loss.
