After dropping two matches in a row, the Blue Streaks' wrestling team was looking to notch another win in the 2012-2013 campaign against #27 Mount Union. Unfortunately, John Carroll could not maintain its early momentum, losing to the host Purple Raiders, 31-7.

Missing stars such as Terner Gott (157), Dan Mirman (149) and Clarence Semple (165) did not help the Blue Streaks, but there were a few positives for JCU to walk away with.

John Carroll got on the board first with an early win in the 125 weight class. Mike Buckiso earned a major decision, 13-2, over the Purple Raiders' Brad Kress. The win was Buckiso's eighth of the season, and third in his first year of conference play.

Mount Union would win the next two matches at the 133 and 141 weight classes.

John Carroll's only other win of the night came in the 149 class, where freshman Jordan Victor defeated Tyler Johnston 7-4. This was Victor's 15th win of the season, and third conference win.

The Purple Raiders would win the final six matches, including a tough overtime loss for senior Bryan Steinmetz at 184.

With the loss, the Blue Streaks drop to 3-5 on the season. The next match for John Carroll will be on Tuesday, January 22 against the Ohio Northern Polar Bears at 7:30 p.m.
