John Carroll had four matches against some top competition Saturday at the Mount Union duals, and despite some close calls, came away with a single victory.
The Blue Streaks' lone victory was a 43-6 round two rout over Gettysburg.Â

Isen Vajusi and Will Parter closed out the match with consecutive pins at 184, 197 and 285 pounds, respectively.
Two other matches were close but did not go John Carroll's way.

In the opening round, John Carroll held a 10-7 lead over Waynesburg after five bouts. But the Yellow Jackets won four of the last five to win 22-13.

Terner Gott and Gaydosh were winners in that round.
After the Gettysburg win and a bye in round three, JCU resumed action in round four and faced York. The match was tied at 12-12 and 15-15, but York used a late pin to pull out a 21-18 win. Corrao, Gott and
Thomas McNulty all had major decision victories in the loss to York.
John Carroll finished its Mount Union Duals run with a 26-9 loss to #30 ranked Thiel. Corrao, Gott and McNulty all earned decisions against the Tomcats.
JCU is now 2-3 on the year.
