OAC Tournament Preview: John Carroll Men's Soccer On The Big Stage Again

Boban Cancar and the Blue Streaks hope to scale the Ohio Northern mountain Saturday in the 2013 OAC final
In sports, there is always that one mountain that needs to be scaled.

For the John Carroll men's soccer team, that mountain is located in Ada, Ohio.

John Carroll will be making its third consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference title match appearance, and for the third consecutive year, its opponent will be Ohio Northern University.

The match will take place on Saturday, November 9, at 2:00 p.m.

When the two teams met on October 26, Ohio Northern escaped University Heights with a 2-1 victory and would go on to capture the regular season title.

This time around, the OAC Tournament title -- and an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Championship tournament -- will be on the line..

Live video and live stats will be available to follow the match.

John Carroll is making its league-record 21st trip to the league's postseason tournament, missing just the 1998 edition since the OAC instituted the playoff format in 1992. It has also reached a league-record 1w championship finals, including each of the last three seasons.

The Blue Streaks are 18-14-3 all-time in OAC Tournament play, with five titles to their credit (1993, 2000, 2003, 2005 and 2007).

JCU, which has a 15-3-1 record in 2013, advanced to the final with a 2-1 win over Mount Union. Ohio Northern, the top seed at 17-3-0, won by the same 2-1 score in overtime over Capital.

General admission tickets will be $7 for the contest, but a valid OAC student ID guarantees admission free of charge. Admission is $2 for anyone 18 and under, and tickets for seniors are $5.
