Box Score With two offenses averaging over 80 points per game the John Carroll University men's basketball team and the University of Mount Union provided plenty of offensive fireworks during their respective OAC openers.
The Blue Streaks fell short as both teams found the century mark 113-100 on Wednesday evening in Alliance.
Both teams lit up the scoreboard all night long as the two units combined to make 29 3-pointers in the contest.
Having not shot above .400 from outside the arc all season, John Carroll responded finishing 13-of-32 (.406) on Tuesday evening.
The Blue Streaks trailed by five with 9:06 remaining in the half before outscoring the Purple Raiders 28-11 over the next 7:16 to open up a 12-point lead, their largest of the night.
The lead would not hold as Mount Union heated up in the second half and took the lead for good with 13:45 remaining in the game utilizing 23-of-35 shooting in the second stanza.
"It's tough to beat a team on the road when they shoot the ball that well," said head coach Mike Moran. "Hats off to Mount Union, they made the shots."

With turnovers at a premium, both teams capitalized on their opponent's misfortunes. Despite both teams only have 10 turnovers each, the two squads turned the 20 miscues into 52 points with John Carroll holding the 29-23 edge.
Freshman
David Linane and Wallack, a sophomore, had the hot hands for the Blue Streaks.
Linane erupted for a season-best 26 points and connected on six trifectas along the way. Wallack added a career-high 24 points finishing 6-of-7 from the floor including 4-of-5 on 3-pointers. He was also a perfect 8-of-8 at the foul line.
Simon Kucharewicz, who entered the week leading the OAC in shooting percentage, had another solid night for the Blue Streaks finishing with nine points and nine rebounds in just 12 minutes.
John Carroll fell to 4-1, 0-1 while Mount Union improved to 3-2, 1-0.
John Carroll hosts Ohio Northern in its home opener at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 inside the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.
