Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Looking to keep the momentum going from its near-comeback on Friday afternoon the John Carroll University baseball team split its doubleheader with Allegheny College on Saturday afternoon in Beckley, W.Va..

Game One
The Blue Streaks' offense went to work right away sending 10 men to the plate in the first inning and never looked back en route to a 12-6 win in game one of the doubleheader with Allegheny.

Robby Cifelli started the parade off with a triple and game around to score on a Mitchell Herringshaw single for the game's first run. The Blue and Gold showed patience at the plate as David Lykens drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Bobby Sabatino. JCU added a three-run double by Jake Schoch to finish with six runs in the first inning.

The offense kept clicking in the third inning when Chet Lauer came in to score when Lykens alertly got in a run-down.

John Carroll would also score two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth inning. Sabatino drove in his first two runs of the year with a single in the fourth while Lykens laced a single in the fifth inning.

Allegheny looked to work its way back into the ball game in the fifth inning. The Gators loaded the bases before Zach Gray brought in two Allegheny players to cut JCU's lead to four. Matt Sardini laced a single to give the Gators new hope.

However, JCU capped the game with two insurance runs in the seventh inning with Jimmy Spagna driving in Sabatino and Herringshaw with a double.

Four Blue Streaks finished the first game of the doubleheader with multiple hits led by Spagna who had three.

Mark Materise picked up the win with 2 2/3 innings of relief.

Game Two
The Gators regrouped to take a 12-2 decision in the second game of the doubleheader.

Allegheny utilized a 6-run second inning to break the game wide open, a gap from which John Carroll could not recover. The Gators took advantage of four walks which accounted for a majority of the damage. Jacob Shick cleaned up the inning with a 2-out double to left-center.

John Carroll's lone offense came in the third inning. Sabatino started the Blue Streak rally with a 2-out walk before Herringshaw ripped a double to bring in the first run of the game for JCU. Herringshaw would come around to score on Spagna's single.

The offense was held in check as the Gator pitchers struck out nine Blue Streaks including four be left-hander Steven Ramsdell who worked 5.1 innings to pick up the win.

Cifelli and Sabatino led the offense with two hits each in the second game.

The John Carroll baseball team heads to the Snowbird Classic and the Gene Cusic Classic. The Blue Streaks will play three games in Ft. Myers, Fla. and five in Port Charlotte Fla. from March 2-8.
