Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

History-Making 120-Point Outburst Carries Blue Streaks To A 4-0 Start

Before this season, John Carroll men's basketball had a Blue Streak team strung together three-consecutive 100-point games.

That is a history that dates back to 1919.

Today's 120-88 win over Rust College (MS) on day two of the 2015 Coach Jim Connor Classic hosted by Thomas More College was a history making effort. Combined with wins over St. Mary's (100-88) on November 15 and Birmingham-Southern (117-93) yesterday, the Blue Streaks completed the program's first run of three consecutive games scoring in the hundreds by scoring a season-high 120 on Saturday afternoon in Crestview Hills, Kentucky..

John Carroll scored 60 points in both the first and second half to roll to its fourth consecutive win to start the season.

The Blue Streaks led from wire-to-wire, scoring the first eight points of the contest. Rust got to within two points at 8-6 and 10-8, but a 29-11 run over the next eight minutes effectively put the game out of reach. David Linane's three-point bucket at the 8:18 mark put JCU ahead 39-19. The margin never got closer than 17 points the rest of the way.

Six Blue Streaks found their way into double figures, led by a career-high 19 points from Danny Wallack. The senior was 7-11 from the field, 3-4 from three-point range, and 2-2 from the free throw line.

Will Starks poured in 16 points, while David Linane had a double-double with 13 points and a career-best 12 assists. Simon Kucharewicz added 11 while Antonio Vuyancih and Ryan Farragher each scored ten points off the bench.

As a team, the Blue Streaks were 25-46 (.543) from the field and 9-17 (.529) from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes. For the game, JCU was 47-94 (.500) from the floor and 13-33 (.394) from beyond the arc.

Rust (1-2) was led by 25 points and ten rebounds from Johnathan Bowens, while O'Darius Lowe contributed 23 points amd 12 rebounds.
