Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Missed Opportunities On Offense Add Up As JCU Women's Lacrosse Falls To Oberlin

Young teams can tend to be their own worst enemy at times, and the John Carroll women's lacrosse proved that theory to be spot on Wednesday at Don Shula Stadium. Missed opportunities on the offensive end added up, and the Blue Streaks fell for the first time at home in program history, 11-6, to Oberlin.

JCU led early, 2-0, on a pair of goals by Chelsea Jackson and Annamae Bolen in the opening three minutes, but the Yeowomen regrouped and outscored the Blue Streaks, 6-1, the remainder of the half.

Oberlin led at one point 10-4 midway through the second half, but back-to-back goals by Grace Curatolo and Bolen cut the deficit to 10-6 with 17:21 remaining to play. In a key stretch of the contest, the Blue Streaks won the ensuing draw after their sixth goal, and held the ball for nearly five minutes with two free position attempts, but could not capitalize.

Oberlin tacked on a late goal to put the game away.

John Carroll was outshot 28-15, but had the better of draw controls (11-8). Each goalkeeper -- Alexa L'Insalata for Oberlin and Mary Jo Murino for John Carroll made five saves.

The Blue Streaks fall to 2-2 on the season while the Yeowomen improve to 3-1.
