Wild finishes in Ada, Ohio have been the norm of late for the John Carroll University softball team. Monday would be no exception.

Ohio Northern would sweep John Carroll 1-0, 4-3 on Monday afternoon. The Polar Bears walked off in the first game and prevented a comeback in the second game.

Ohio Northern improved to 15-6, 6-2 OAC with the sweep while John Carroll fell to 14-8, 5-3 OAC.

An unlucky break led to a 1-0 walkoff for the hosts in game one.

Ohio Northern catcher Amanda Lahti reached on a two-out error in the bottom of the seventh allowing Miranda Huddle to plate the game's lone run.

Senior right-hander
Rachel Byrnes pitched effectively on the day allowing one unearned run on seven hits. Byrnes struck out seven on the afternoon.

The right-hander came up big in the second inning striking out three to strand a pair of Polar Bears on the bases.
The Blue Streaks' defense helped its pitcher out in the fifth. After the first two Polar Bears reached in the inning
Ashlee Unrue was able to retire the lead runner at third for the first out of the frame. Byrnes was able to record a strikeout and induce a pop out to work out of the jam.

John Carroll's best offensive chance came in the top of the first.
Hannah Mizener reached on a one-out infield single. She would advance to second on
Alyssa Coleman's groundout.

Game TwoOhio Northern 4, John Carroll 3Â
A late home run by John Carroll gave the Blue Streaks life in the seventh. However, a four-run third gave the hosts the sweep as the Polar Bears held on to take the 4-3 win in the second game of the twin bill.

ONU took advantage of a pair of JCU errors in the third to plate off of its runs. Anna Martin and Kelly Sheridan delivered RBI singles for the Polar Bears.

JCU scored its first run in the top of the fourth. The Blue Streaks loaded the bases before
Christie Wade laced a single through the left side to plate Coleman.

Coleman hit a two-out, two-run homer in the seventh to make it a one-run game. Unrue, who led off the frame with a walk came in to score on the play.

AnneMarie Kirchner fell to 6-3 on the season. The sophomore allowed seven hits and four runs for the game. Mizener and Coleman each finished with two hits for the Blue and Gold.
