The John Carroll men's soccer team took the field on short rest Sunday afternoon, and made the most of the opportunity.
A trio of Blue Streaks found the back of the net as John Carroll defeated Methodist, 3-1, in their second game in the Soccer Kicks Cancer Methodist Invitational in Fayetteville, N.C.
John Carroll improves to 3-1-1 on the season.
A pair of penalty kicks early in the second half opened the scoring. Freshman
Andrew Frank was taken down in the box in the 50th minute, and sophomore
Jake Lombardo converted the penalty. Four minutes later, a Blue Streaks handball allowed Methodist to draw even.
For the second time this season, John Carroll rallied late for a victory. Sophomore
Dalton Browsky recorded his fourth goal of the year in the 77th minute off sophomore
Jesse Marinaro's fourth assist.
Marinaro found the mark three minutes later, cleaning up Browsky's initial shot and closing the door on the Monarchs. It was the second-year player's first goal of 2015.
The Blue Streaks take the field next Wednesday in a crosstown match at Case Western Reserve at 7:30 p.m.
