The streak continues.
John Carroll University lengthens their unbeaten streak to nine as they defeated Baldwin Wallace University 2-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 12 afternoon at Don Shula Stadium.
JCU moves to 5-3-6, 2-0-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while BW gets knocked out of the tie for first in the OAC with a record of 8-5-1, 2-2-0.
Both defenses were at a premium in a scoreless opening half. At the 21 minute mark, Baldwin Wallace's Hope Martin broke away from the pack to a potential scoring position. Martin's hot shot was no match for John Carroll's keeper, Rhianna Guarnera. Guarnera recorded three saves in the first half.
John Carroll's offense came to work in the second half. At 34:50, Jaclyn Audino ripped off a shot, but it was saved by BW's goalkeeper Sophia Weidner. Her shot started the momentum for the Blue Streaks.
Just two minutes later, Audino planted a header in Bailey Fischer's wheelhouse to put the Blue Streaks on the board first. Fischer's goal gave John Carroll a 1-0 lead.
Then, at the 26:57 mark, Audino scored to give the Blue Streaks a two-goal lead. Maddy Fisher was credited with the assist.
Of John Carroll's 17 total shots, 11 were shots on goal.
The Blue Streaks have a record of 4-0-3 at Don Shula Stadium this season.
Fischer's goal marks her second winning goal this season. This also marks Audino's sixth game with a point and her second game with a goal and assist. The first one was recorded against Kenyon College on September 18.
The Blue Streaks will host Ohio Northern on Saturday, October 15th at 4 pm.
