Box Score 2 The Blue Streaks (5-6) were held scoreless on Saturday, dropping 2-0 and 7-0 games to Manchester University in Kokomo, Ind. on Saturday afternoon.
GAME ONE
The Blue Streaks could not muster much offense in the first matchup, reaching base just six times in a 2-0 loss to Manchester.
Dominic Mittiga went 2-for-4 in the contest, with
Patrick Keohane adding the other hit.
David Crowley was 0-for-2 at the plate, but walked twice.
Aaron Lapaglia drops to 1-1 on the season. He threw a complete game, giving up two runs on seven hits. He struck out five Spartans. Taylor Kopplin (3-0) struck out five Blue Streaks in the complete game win.
Manchester scored in the fourth inning on a Sean Knepper RBI single to left field that scored Tailur Szarenski.
Knepper added the second run on a home run to left center field in the bottom of the seventh.
GAME TWO
Brandon Maddern took the loss in a 7-0 shutout in game two. Keohane and
Chris LaLiberte each had two hits, as JCU was held to six hits total. Mittiga and
Max Argento each had one hit.
In the second game, the Spartans scored two runs in the second off Maddern. Cory Ferguson's single scored Austyn Rybicki. The next batter, Tyler LaFollette reached on an error that scored Elliott Ford. Manchester would plate five more in the victory, with three in the fifth and two in the seventh. They improve to 5-4 on the season.
Steven Virost and
Mark Materise each pitched in relief, with Virost surrendering two runs.
The teams face off once again tomorrow afternoon in a single game at 1:00 p.m.
