John Carroll University's football team scored three touchdowns and a field goal in each half of the game on the way to a 48-21 domination of Marietta College on Saturday afternoon at Don Drumm Stadium along the shores of the Ohio River.
JCU set the tone in the first half, scoring on four of six first-half possessions to take a 24-7 lead at halftime.
The Blue Streaks drove 65 yards in eight plays in 3:36 on their first drive. Junior running back
Sam Kukura gained 23 yards in three carries in the drive including the final yard for a 7-0 lead with 9:39 left in the 1st quarter.
Kukura picked up 49 yards and two TDs on six carries in the half.

Eddie Williamson on a 30-yard TD pass play. JCU covered 70 yards in seven plays in 3:13. The sophomore connected on 3-of-4 passes for 65 yards in the drive.
Marietta scored its only touchdown of the half early in the second quarter to make it 14-7 when quarterback Darrien Fields connected with Roger Walker for a 14-yard pass play that capped a 76-yard drive in eight plays and 3:43.
Moeglin was 13-of-20 for 201 yards and a TD and a late interception in the first half. Â Senior wide receiver Brain Kornowski gathered seven passes for 97 yards in the first half and ended with eight receptions for 130 yards and a TD.
"The offensive line played great," Kornowski said. "Anthony got the ball outside to our receivers. Anthony and I have a great relationship both on and off the field," Kornowski added.

Matt Danko, the Blue Streaks stretched the lead to 24-7 when Kukura picked his way for the final 12 yards of a short 35-yard field in 3 plays and 1:13 with 6:09 left until halftime.
By halftime, JCU had collected 283 yards in 36 offensive plays and the defense held Marietta to 107 yards of offense with only eight yards rushing in 13 attempts.
Kukura opened the scoring in the 3rd quarter on a 13-yard run for his third TD of the game. That run capped an 82-yard drive in nine plays and 4:33 to increase the score to 31-7. Senior running back
Ro Golphin raced 19 and 20 yards on two consecutive carries to highlight the drive. He led the running game with 103 yards in 15 carries for the day.
Kornowski then caught a 33-yard TD pass in the end zone to move the scoreboard to 38-7 with 4:42 left in the third quarter.
"Brian is amazing; he is the heart and soul of the offense," said Head Coach
Rick Finotti. "To have a wide receiver set the example and provide tremendous leadership for the offense is rare."
JCU earned its biggest lead just seconds into the fourth quarter when Moeglin hit junior tight end
Danny Disbrow with a 6-yard TD pass and a 45-7 lead.
Danko would add a 40-yard field goal to end the scoring for the Blue Streaks who have scored 120 points (72 and 48) in their last two games.
JCU gained 253 rushing yards in 43 carries and Moeglin was 17-of-25 for 257 yards passing for 510 yards of total offense. The Blue Streaks defense limited the Pioneers to 42 yards on the ground, although they added 218 through the air.
John Carroll improves to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Marietta is now 2-3 and 1-3.
