John Carroll did what was necessary to prevent its first loss from becoming its first losing streak Saturday, scoring early and keeping the pressure on against host Marietta to produce a 3-0 victory.
Playing for the first time since suffering their first loss of the year (3-2 at Heidelberg on Tuesday), the Blue Streaks were methodical in getting back on the winning track against a quality opponent.Â
Hayden Parente got JCU on the board in the eighth minute, scoring after a
Dalton Browsky shot hit the crossbar. The 1-0 lead stood until halftime despite the Blue Streaks being outshot 5-2.
John Carroll dominated the second half, and its paid off with two more goals.
Jesse Marinaro tallied his marker in the 50th minute off a feed from Browsky, and
Jake Girardot put the capper into the goal in the 68th minute thanks to a pass from Marinaro.
JCU had seven shots to the Pioneers' four in the final 45 minutes, levelling the shots count for the game at nine apiece.Â
Liam McIntosh made four saves to preserve his seventh shutout in 11 matches this season.
John Carroll is now 10-1-1 on the season and 2-1-0 in the OAC. Marietta falls to 8-3-1 and 2-1-0 in the OAC.
