Men's Basketball Rolls To Road Victory At Wilmington

For the second game in a row, John Carroll men's basketball completed a wire-to-wire victory.

John Carroll traveled to Wilmington and came away with a 93-76 victory at Fred Raizk Arena on Saturday.

David Linane Jr. led John Carroll (14-6, 11-3 OAC ) with 19 points and also dished out six assists. Simon Kucharewicz had another double- double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Matt Csuhran added an efficient 11 points on 4-5 shooting and 3-4 from three. Wilmington's (8-13, 3-11 OAC) Noah Chapman lead all scorers with 20 points.

John Carroll trailed for seven seconds during the entire contest. With 17:22 left in the first half, Wilmington's Christian Jones knocked a three down, giving the Quakers a 5-4 lead. That was the only lead they would see.

A steady offensive performance in the first half fueled by Linane had the John Carroll lead to as much as 15 points. Wilmington would not go down without a fight. After Linane hit a three with 7:46 in the half, the Quakers would begin their climb back, highlighted by Chapman. Chapman scored 12 points on Wilmington's run and they cut the lead down to 4 points at half.

JCU came out of the half on fire. In two and a half minutes, the Blue Streak lead exploded from four points to 15. The 11-0 run was lead by Kucharewicz who capitalized on three layups. Tim Ludlow hit a three-pointer and David Linane put in a layup and John Carroll lead 54-39. That run would be enough for the Blue Streaks.

Today's win is John Carroll's 11th win in the past 12 games. Since John Carroll's 1-4 start, the Blue Streaks are 12-2 with a two-point loss at Ohio Northern and a three-point loss at Marietta. JCU is now 14-6, and 11-3 in the OAC.

Up next for the Blue Streaks is a crosstown matchup in Berea against Baldwin Wallace (9-11, 4-9 OAC) on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
