AnnMarie Kirchner took the loss after three innings of five-run work. Case Western Reserve scored five runs in the top of the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth. A home run in the top of the fifth provided the eight-run margin.
Game Two - Case Western Reserve 11, John Carroll 1
The Spartans also took game two, 11-1, in five innings.
Brianna Lach was the losing pitcher, allowing four earned runs in 2.1 innings.
Kelly Geringer pitched the remaining 2.2 innings, surrendering five earned runs.
Hannah Mizener had a 2-for-3 game at the plate. Eder was 2-for-2.
Case Western Reserve took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI single to deep left center. The Spartans scored again on an error in the second. In the third, CWRU scored three on a double and two-run home run.
Carly Simecek doubled down the right field line for a two-out RBI in the third inning. CWRU would score six in the fifth inning to take the 11-1 lead. John Carroll's regular season ends with a doubleheader at Marietta on Saturday.
