The John Carroll Blue Streaks did not yield a positive result in their matchup against their crosstown rival, the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets, as JCU fell by a score of 3-2.
This is the first time the Yellow Jackets defeated the Blue Streaks since 2006.
The score remained 2-0 throughout a majority of the game, until the Blue Streaks stepped it up in the second half with back-to-back goals.
Sophomore
Rachel Braunegg recorded her second goal of the season, giving the Streaks optimism, as the scoreboard read 1-2 with twenty minutes remaining in the match.
Shortly after, with thirteen minutes remaining in the match, senior
Bailey Fischer recorded her eighth goal of the season, tying the game at 2.
Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets found the back of the net in the 88th minute, which secured the 3-2 win for Baldwin Wallace.
Despite the 3-2 loss, both teams fired 22 shots over the course of the game. In addition, freshman goalkeeper, Danielle DelGuidice, had a 10-8 advantage in saves.
The Blue Streaks now stand at 4-10-1 (1-5-0 OAC) on the season.
