Four consecutive matches without a goal was starting to wear thin for the John Carroll women's soccer team.
Senior captain
Bailey Fischer did what captains do in situations such as these -- she led by example.
Two first half goals followed by a third in the second half was all the offense needed for John Carroll to secure a much needed 3-1 win over Allegheny College Tuesday evening at Don Shula Stadium. It was the Blue Streaks' first win since a 4-3 overtime victory over Grove City on August 31.
No overtime drama was needed on this evening, as John Carroll was aggressive from the start, owning an 11-1 shot advantage over the first 45 minutes. Fischer recorded her second career hat trick (and first since three goals against Heidelberg on October 4, 2016) as part of an offensive attack that peppered Allegheny with 18 shots on the night. Freshman
Macey Malinky assisted on two of Fischer's three tallies.
With the three goals this evening, Fischer moved into second place all-time in JCU women's soccer history with 36 career goals, passing
Kay Akerly who had 34 goals from 2011-14. Fischer now only trails JCU Hall of Fame member Julie Scaffidi, who found the net 46 times from 1997-2000.
Danielle DelGiudice only had to make two saves to earn her second career victory in goal.
The victory marked John Carroll's first win over Allegheny since 2008. In the four matches since that win prior to tonight, JCU was 0-3-1 against the Gators and had managed just one goal.
