Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Blue Streaks Book Home Playoff Date By Shutting Out Heidelberg On the Road

The John Carroll women's soccer team left Tiffin, Ohio, with nothing but good news Wednesday afternoon.

The first piece of good news was that the Blue Streaks were victorious after defeating the Student Princes of Heidelberg, 2-0, in an Ohio Athletic Conference match up.

The second piece of good news was that, by virtue of their victory, the Blue Streaks are assured of hosting at least a quarterfinal round game in next week's OAC Tournament.

Today's game was slow to start and remained scoreless throughout the first half. However, it would be the perfect build up to an action packed second half.

The Blue Streaks experienced a positive change in momentum to start the second half. Eight minutes in, Grace Monnin took a shot that would put John Carroll on the board and give them a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after, with 29 minutes remaining in regulation, Jaclyn Audino took a penalty kick that made its way into the net, putting the Blue Streaks ahead 2-0 over the Student Princes.

Defensively, John Carroll held Heidelberg scoreless for the remainder of the game. Danielle DelDiudice tallied six saves in goal for the Blue Streaks, five of which occurred throughout the second half.

John Carroll improves to 9-5-3 overall and 5-2-1(4th place) in the OAC.

The Blue Streaks will be back in action this Saturday, November 2 in their final regular season match against Wilmington. The game is set for 7:00 pm at Don Shula Stadium.
