Following a six-goal explosion at Muskingum last Saturday, the Blue Streaks were hoping their scoring woes were a thing of the past.
On Wednesday night in Alliance, John Carroll found the black cloud had settled back in.
For the third time in its last four matches, JCU was held scoreless. This time, it only cost them a tie and not a loss as the Blue Streaks and host Mount Union Purple Raiders played to a 0-0 draw.
The tie snapped 11 consecutive victories for John Carroll over Mount Union, and marked the first time the Blue and Gold had failed to score against the Purple Raiders since a 1-0 loss in 2010. JCU is now 11-0-2 against Mount Union since that setback nine years ago.
The teams combined for 22 shots but only three were on goal over the course of 110 minutes. JCU had 15 shots to Mount Union's seven and nine corners to five for the opposition, but the Blue Streaks could not find the golden goal.
Jared Ianiro had a team-high five shots, including the only one on goal.
Connor Robinson had to make just two saves this evening for his second consecutive shutout and third of the year.
