Perhaps the most impressive part of John Carroll's four-year domination in the Ohio Athletic Conference is that, of the 32 consecutive regular season victories the Blue Streaks have strung together since April 18, 2015, 24 have been by shutout.
All five this year have been of the blanking variety, including Wednesday's 9-0 win over Mount Union at the Cleveland State Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion in Cleveland, Ohio.
The sweep began in doubles, where all three teams prevailed. The #2 tandem of
Skye Harwood and
Megan Reese rallied from a 6-5 deficit to win the final three games and take the match 8-6 over Jordan Teaford and Cora Shane.
The singles proved to be a less difficult endeavor.Â
Lauren O'Malley won her 102nd career singles match with a 6-0 6-0 decision over Gretchen Groves in the #1 match.
Madisyn Rini was a 6-1 6-3 winner at #2, while Reese won 6-0 6-1 at #3.
Alyssa Krupp (#4),
Carlye Campagna (#5) and Harwood (#6) won in straight sets as well, with Campagna getting the 6-0 6-0 win in her match.
John Carroll is now 10-4 overall and 5-0 in league matches. Mount Union also is 10-4 and drops to 2-3 in the OAC.
