Men's Lacrosse Continues To Build Late Season Momentum With Decisive Road Win At Wilmington

It was another high-scoring game for the John Carroll men's lacrosse team as the Blue Streaks defeated the Fightin' Quakers of Wilmington College 29-3 on Saturday afternoon.

John Carroll tied the program record for single-game goals, which the Blue and Gold previously set last month against Muskingum.

"It was a great win for us," said head coach Joe Rautenstrauch. "It gives us a lot more confidence going into the rest of the season."

The Blue Streak offense was on fire in the first half, outscoring the Fightin' Quakers 23-2 in the first 30 minutes of play. Skyler Blake led JCU with five goals, with Kevin Hack and Cole Jaskiewicz also recording first-half hat tricks.

The second half was more of the same as JCU held a five-goal advantage in goals score for the half (6-1) and cruised the rest of the way.

Four Blue Streaks recorded hat tricks in the game, including Blake (7), Hack (4), Jaskiewicz (3), and Cam Gerard (3). Blake also finished the game with team-highs in both goals and points (11), with his goals marking a new season high.

Three of Hack's four goals came on extra-man opportunities, setting a new program standard for the category.

The JCU defense continues to stand out among Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opponents. The Blue and Gold's faceoff unit, led by Evan Schneeberger, won 33 of 35 faceoffs to set yet another single-game record.

Sophomore Clayton Karam also broke the single-game record for ground balls with 21. The previous record was 20, which he set last month in JCU's matchup against the Fighting Muskies. The defender currently leads the OAC in ground balls (125) and ranks second in program history with 228 career GB's.

Jacob Betz got the win for JCU, improving his record to 6-6. His lone save of the game was the 250th of his career.

John Carroll will next host the Pioneers of Marietta College on Thursday, April 18 in their inaugural matchup at 7 p.m.
