The John Carroll University men's lacrosse team increased their conference win streak to four on Wednesday night as the Blue Streaks defeated the Student Princes of Heidelberg University, 26-5.
This is the third game in a row and fourth game of the season where the Blue and Gold defeated a conference opponent by a double-digit margin.
The first half paved the way for the Blue Streaks as JCU outscored the Student Princes 17-3 in the first 30 minutes of play. With the Blue and Gold leading 5-2 just under six minutes into the game, John Carroll went on a 14-minute, 9-0 run that lasted well into the second quarter.
As time ran out, Heidelberg managed to score one more goal before halftime. But JCU added three more before heading into the locker room. Senior

Skyler Blake, and sophomore
Brendan Whitty both scored a team-high four goals. Blake also recorded seven first-half assists.
The second half was more of the same. JCU maintained their momentum through both quarters, holding a seven-goal advantage to cruise the rest of the way and bring home the win.
12 Blue Streaks scored over the course of the night. Whitty led the way with seven goals, followed by Blake and O'Grady with their four first-half goals. The reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week also recorded 10 assists in the game, totaling 14 points and shattering the program record for points and assists in a single game. The previous record for single-game points stood at 12 points, while the record for assists was eight.
Sophomore
Clayton Karam continues to dominate on defense, totaling 13 ground balls and four caused turnovers. This is the third consecutive game where the defender tallied double-digit ground balls in a single game.
In goal, senior
Jacob Betz earned his ninth win of the season. His record now stands at 9-6 in his 2019 campaign.
With the win, JCU improves to 9-6 (5-3 OAC), while Heidelberg falls to 5-11 (2-6 OAC).
John Carroll will close out the regular season this Saturday when the Blue Streaks host the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University on Saturday, April 27 on senior night at 7 p.m. JCU must win to have any chance to make the OAC Tournament field a sixth consecutive year.
