The host College of Wooster shook off an early 1-1 tie to defeat John Carroll, 3-1, continuing a long streak of frustration for the visitors. John Carroll is now 1-15-2 all-time at Wooster (as compared to 8-2-1 at home against the same opponent).
A goal 28 seconds into the contest seemed indicative of the misfortune JCU has experienced. Holly Thompson took advantage of a loose ball in the box on the Fighting Scots first forway down the field to put the home team ahead 1-0.
But the Blue Streaks did answer, as
Brittany Dufalla scored her fourth goal of the year on an assist from
Macey Malinky at the 1:50 mark.
Miura Wiley broke the deadlock with what proved to be the match winner in the 15th minute, knifing through the JCU defense for a 2-1 lead.
Wooster controlled possession throughout the second half and the pressure paid off as Brie Jarrell scored the clincher at the 72 minute mark.
The Fighting Scots, who improved to 3-0-1, won the shots battle, 20-6.Â
The Blue Streaks, who fell to 2-2, had the edge in corners, 5-3.
