Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

John Carroll Men's Tennis Carves Out Two Victories Over Course Of Spring Break Trip

Shaun Keenan has little concern for his dual meet record as a head coach.

His concern is preparing his team for another run at an Ohio Athletic Conference title and an NCAA tournament berth.

Hence a schedule featuring a ranked Division III team, a Division I team and an NAIA power

John Carroll played six matches down in Florida this week, and carved out victories over Muhlenberg and Houghton. The losses were to #14 Mary Washington, Oglethorpe, Division I Sacred Heart and NAIA power Ave Maria.

Against Muhlenberg, JCU picked up its first win of the season. The Blue Streaks swept the doubles - Gustavo Garcia and Kevin Wacnik at #1, Mark Beebe and Andrew Siciliano at #2, and Parker Holyn and Andrew Triner at #3. In singles play, Beebe (#3), Adi Jha (#4), Triner (#5) and Alvaro Rosabal (#6) all won to deliver a 7-2 victory.

Keenan used a revised line-up against Houghton in an 8-1 win. Jha won a tiebreaker as the number one singles player, as did Isaac Palinkas playing at #6. Doug Moore (#3), Nathan Palinkas (#4) and Jack George (#5) all won in straight sets.

In doubles, Moore and Triner won 8-4 at the #1 slot, Holyn and George won by an 78-7 score at #3, and the brothers duo of Nathan Palinkas and Isaac Palinkas won 8-3 in the third doubles match.

For the week, Beebe was 2-3 in singles and 2-3 with Siciliano in doubles. Garcia and Wacnik were 2-3 as a doubles tandem. Holyn had the best doubles record of 3-1 playing with Triner and George.

Adi Jha was 2-3 as a singles player, while Moore was 1-0 in singles and 1-2 in doubles.

Triner was 2-1 in singles and 3-2 in doubles with three different partners.
