| By:
MARIETTA, Ohio -- Coming off a second-place finish from the OAC Indoor Championships back at the beginning of March, the John Carroll University Men's Track & Field entered the first outdoor meet of 2021 with unfinished business.

A beautiful day in Marietta made things a lot easier for the Blue Streaks to kick off the outdoor season on a good note.

To start off, junior Ian Pierson won the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:15.99. Freshmen Cormac Peppard-Kramer (9:41.42) and Ethan Domitrovich (9:44.52) finished fourth and fifth, while senior Jake Darby placed sixth with a time of 9:54.70.

In the men's 1500 meter race, freshman John Shoemaker came in first for the Blue Streaks, placing fifth with a time of 4:15.57. Junior James Mangan placed ninth with a time of 4:20.51 and senior Connor McIntyre snagged eleventh with a time of 4:22.90.

Moving on towards the spring events, junior Garrett Clark (21.89) and senior Deven Ward (22.13) finished first and second in the 200 meter race, collecting big points for the team. In the 400 meter race, Garrett Clark came back and placed second with junior Mark Zahren finishing right behind him placing third.

With the field events, senior Jacob Fritsch won the Men's Javelin with a mark of 59.59m. Freshman Jimmy Kartsonas would collect big points for the Blue Streaks with a win in the men's Triple Jump with a mark of 12.72m.

The Blue Streaks will look to keep their momentum rolling as they prepare for the second meet of the outdoor season next Saturday, March 27 at the University of Mount Union, where they will compete against Marietta, Muskingum, Baldwin Wallace, and Mount Union.
