Blue Streaks Fall To Unbeaten Cardinals On The Road

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The John Carroll University women's soccer team (2-2-0, 2-2-0) suffered their second straight loss after falling 4-0 to the Otterbein University Cardinals (4-0-0, 4-0-0) on Thursday night.

In the first half, Otterbein's dominant offense set the pace of the game and led them to outshoot John Carroll 28-8 in tonight's contest.

Otterbein's Emily Ganz took two shots in the opening two minutes of the game, both of those were blocked by John Carroll but Ganz led the way for Otterbein the rest of the night.

Soon after the shooting persistence paid off for the Cardinals as Delaney Earl punched in a low right goal at the 8:53 mark of the game. Ganz was credited with the assist.

In response to the goal, John Carroll tallied their first shot of the game courtesy of Grace Monnin at the 12:41 mark of the game. Her shot went high and missed the goal.

Otterbein's shooting continued to outweigh the Blue Streaks' efforts with them striking for the second time of the night at the 29:55 mark of the game. Myiah Kelly found an open low right net to put the Cardinals ahead 2-0.

Otterbein outshot the Blue Streaks 14-2 in the first 45 minutes of the game. Danielle DelGuidice recorded two saves on Otterbein's four shots on goal.

Otterbein's dominance extended into the second half of the play. The Cardinals came firing out of the locker room putting up their third goal of the night courtesy of Ganz with a low right shot. Ganz finished out the game-sealing victory for Otterbein scoring again at the 53:16 minute mark giving Otterbein the 4-0 lead.

Otterbein held onto their win and shut down John Carroll's last attempts at getting a goal.

John Carroll was led by Brittany Dufalla with three shots, Monin with two, and Lindstrom with two as well.

DelGiudice recorded five saves in her 65 minutes in goal. Sophomore Mackenzie Stease made her first appearance of the season at the 65-minute mark of the game. She recorded two saves.

John Carroll will have a chance at ending their losing streak on Sunday as they return home to face off against the Ohio Northern University at 2:00 pm.
