John Carroll Men’s T&F Has A Day Full Of Top Finishes And National Attention, Places Second At OAC Elite Meet

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- The Blue Streaks traveled down to the campus of Otterbein University for the OAC Elite Meet, competing against every conference school for the first time this outdoor season. 

In the sprinting events, Senior Deven Ward picked up where he left off winning the 100m dash with a time of 10.76 sec. In the 400m race, Junior Garrett Clark would place second with a time of 49.35 sec. These two remain atop the national rankings in their respective events. In the Men's 4 x 400m relay, the team of Junior Garrett Clark, Senior Deven Ward, Freshman Caleb Correia, and Junior Mark Zahren placed second with a time of 3:17.38 to put them ninth in the country currently. 

Going into the distance events, in the Men's 1500, Juniors Ian Pierson (3:53.22) and Pat White (3:53.92) would finish first and second for the Blue Streaks. This time would place White top ten in the country. Junior Gabe Ernest placed third in the Men's 800m race with a time of 1:56.44 to gather up huge points for the team. In the Men's 3000m Steeplechase, Freshman Ethan Domitrovich placed second with a time of 9:38.19, a personal best for him. Lastly, on the distance side, in the Men's 5000m race, Sophomore Alex Phillip would keep his success rolling winning the event with a time of 14:17.67, shattering the previous school record and placing himself second in the country. Senior Jamie Dailey would place third with a time of 14:30.13, a personal best and sits him at seventh in the country. Sophomore Adam Shah would have himself a day with a huge personal best time of 15:12.97, placing fifth. 

In the field events, Freshmen Jimmy Kartsonas (13.10m) and Willis Goodwin (12.73m) would finish first and second in the Men's Triple Jump to put up big points for the Blue Streaks. In the Men's Hammer Throw, Sophomore Zach Szafarski would place seventh with a mark of 47.91m. Senior Joe McNulty would place eighth in the Men's Shot Put with a mark of 13.36m. 

The Blue Streaks will travel to Heidelberg University Saturday, April 24th for the sixth meet of the season, where they will compete against Muskingum, Heidelberg, Wilmington, Mount Union, and Baldwin Wallace. Two weeks remain before the OAC Outdoor Championships, which will be hosted by Heidelberg.
