Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Student Princes of Heidelberg took both games on Sunday afternoon in Tiffin, Ohio.

A back and forth affair in game one saw leads change several times.  Heidelberg would eventually come out on top 7-6.

The second match up of the day was much different as the Blue Streaks chased the game from the first inning on.  The Student Princes won in dominating fashion, 15-2.

John Carroll drops to 13-17-1 on the year and will travel to New Concord, Ohio on Saturday, May 8th to take on Muskingum University in a double header beginning at 1 PM.

Game One

The Student Princes struck quickly in the bottom of the 1st as a sacrifice fly from designated hitter Eric DiVore scored shortstop Zach Doran to open up the scoring at 1-0 in favor of Heidelberg.

John Carroll stranded two runners in the top of the 2nd inning as designated hitter Tyler Cyrus led off the inning getting hit by a pitch and left fielder Michael Anderson stayed hot hitting a double to right center field.

Heidelberg doubled their lead in the 2nd inning after left fielder Elliot Kurtz hit a solo home run to left field.

The Blue Streak offense would get going in the 5th inning after right fielder Bennett Cavaretta would score off of a Erik Daugenti sacrifice to get JCU on the board.  First baseman Henry Haracz would pick up a RBI single scoring Anderson to tie the game at two.

The Student Princes would respond quickly as Eric DiVore's double in the bottom of the inning would score Marc Ochoa and Cayden Rollins to put Heidelberg back out in front 4-2.

John Carroll had an answer of their own in the next frame.  After Justin Hanley walked to open the inning, Joseph Olsavsky would drive him in and cut the deficit to 4-3.  Two batters later Michael Anderson would drive Olsavsky in to tie the game up at 4.  A Sam Heaton single would score Caveretta giving the Blue Streaks their first lead of the day at 5-4.

Heidelberg would jump back in the lead in the bottom of the 7th.  Keaton Mark and Rollins would both get on base to begin the inning.  An Ochoa double would score Rollins to tie things up at 5.   A DeVore single would then score Mark and Ochoa to give the Student Princes a 7-5 lead.

A Haracz homer in the top of the 9th would cut the Heidelberg lead to one but would not be enough as the Student Princes would take the first game of the doubleheader.

Starting pitcher John Merrill lasted six innings giving up six earned runs on nine hits along with one walk in the loss.

Game Two

The Student Princes would pick up in game two where they left off in game one.  Doran would start the game with a lead off single.  After advancing to second base on a passed ball, he would steal third base and then get driven home off of a Rollins single.  A Mark double would advance Rollins to third and both players would eventually score off an Ochoa single to launch the Student Princes out to a 3-0 lead.

John Carroll would get on the board in the top of the second as catcher Victor Glasner would triple, scoring Hanley and making the score 3-1.

Heidelberg would extend their lead after Doran would score off a Rollins steal in the bottom of the second.  A Mark double would then score Rollins to increase the Student Prince lead to 5-1.  After an Ochoa walk, DiVore would continue his big weekend by doubling to left field scoring both Ochoa and Keaton and pushing the Heidelberg lead out to 7-1.  DiVore would then score off of a Deaunte Fleming single to finish off the inning and increase the lead to 8-1.

The Student Princes offense would continue to put the pressure on in the 4th as Mark and Ochoa began the inning with a single and double respectively.  Fleming would drive Mark in with a sacrifice fly after a DiVore strike out putting Heidelberg out front by a score of 9-1.

Heidelberg added to their lead in the 5th as a bases loaded walk earned by Ochoa scored Doran.  DiVore then singled to center field to score Mark and Rollins to blow the score open to 12-1.

The Blue Streaks found some life in the 6th inning.  Olsavsky was hit by a pitch followed by a Haracz single to put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs.  Olsavsky would score on a Jacob Connery ground out to get a run back and cut the score to 12-2.
