Men's Tennis Battles Tough, but Falters Against a Stout Wooster Team

MAYFIELD, Ohio -- On a Saturday afternoon in Mayfield, John Carroll Men's Tennis confronted a very stout Wooster squad.

Still warming up in spring season, the Blue Streaks stumbled against the Fighting Scots, 8-1.

Despite playing such a great team early in the year, the Blue Streaks held their own across the board. A robust test is certainly a good way to prepare for the spring gauntlet, and this was a test indeed.

The top highlight of the day was JCU's lone win, which occurred at No. 2 doubles. Mark Beebe and Logan Langovsky combined for an excellent 8-3 conquest at the second doubles spot. It was a great win for the combo.

Gustavo Garcia and Kevin Wacnik dropped an 8-3 decision at No. 1 doubles. Nathan Palinkas and Grant Sarnowski battled to the end at No. 3 doubles, but they came up just short, 8-6.

Garcia fought tooth and nail at No. 1 singles, but it was not enough in a 6-3, 7-5 defeat.

No. 2, 3, and 4 singles all required three sets. Logan Langovsky fell in a hard-fought affair at the No. 2 spot, 6-4, 3-6, 3-6. Mark Beebe came up oh so close at the No. 3 match, but lost a nailbiter, 2-6, 7-6, 8-10. Kevin Wacnik also narrowly missed out on a win, 7-6, 1-6, 6-10.

Grant Sarnowski fell at the No. 5 spot, 0-6, 3-6. Alvaro Rosabal also came up on the losing end of a 1-6, 3-6 affair at No. 6.

The Blue Streaks now have a couple weeks off before heading to sunny Florida for what should be a challenging but fun spring break.
