OBERLIN & ASHLAND, Ohio -- In the aftermath of an impactful winter storm, John Carroll Men's Track & Field fired up great performances this weekend.

First, the Blue Streaks' throwers thrived at Oberlin on Friday. Then the Blue Streaks tackled the Jud Logan "Light Giver" Open at Ashland, proving great results.

Beginning with the Friday events, the JCU throwers did well at Oberlin. The Blue Streaks tallied a 1-2 effort in the shot put, led by freshman Matthew Russo hitting a new PR of 15.11. Zach Szafarski followed in second at 13.85m. Russo and Szafarski also went back-to-back in the weight throw with tosses separated by a mere centimeter at 14.90m and 14.89.

Saturday's first highlight at Ashland, a premier meet with great competition, occurred in the mile. Fifth-year senior Jamie Dailey roared for a time of 4:11.38. The time represented a career-best for the Bay native, and bested the school record entering the year before Alex Phillip set it on January 22. Dailey finished third behind only unattached runners.

Jared Arnold also burst forward for a time of 4:14.83, a PR by a whopping five seconds. Ethan Domitrovich (4:14.97), Gabe Ernest (4:15.19), and Caleb Correia (4:17.18) all notched PRs with top-15 finishes.

Garrett Clark made big-time noise in the 200m. The star sprinter rocked a time of 21.70, setting a new school record. His excellent effort snagged him second in the event behind an Ashland runner. And while Clark didn't run in the 60m finals, he did set the school record in the prelims with a time of 6.89. Not a bad day!

Corey Minton and Jimmy Kartsonas stole the spotlight in the triple jump. Minton minted a second-place jump of 13.85m, while Kartsonas stood close behind in fourth with a leap of 13.64m. Willis Goodwin also got a top ten finish at 12.86m.

Ian Pierson was one of a number of Blue Streaks to compete in the 3000m. The veteran finished in the top-25 with a time of 8:41.54. Evan Piscitani repped JCU in the 800m, tallying a time of 1:57.59.
