Men's Tennis Can't Conquer Yeomen on the Road

OBERLIN, Ohio -- The return to Northeast Ohio offered a steep test for the Blue Streaks on Friday.

John Carroll Men's Tennis dropped a 6-3 decision to the Oberlin Yeomen on the road.

With the loss, JCU dropped to 3-5 overall, though one of the losses came while playing a Division II foe and a couple in rainy Florida conditions.

Gustavo Garcia and Mark Beebe formed a great combo at No. 1 doubles, but came up just short of a victory, dropping an 8-6 decision. Alvaro Rosabal and Nathan Palinkas experienced a tougher match at No. 3, losing 8-1.

It took the longest, but the No. 2 spot yielded the best doubles result. Grant Sarnoswki and Logan Langovsky combined for a well-earned 8-3 conquest.

Garcia also experienced a wars at No. 1 singles. Garcia won his first set at the top spot, 6-4, before dropping a 7-5 set two. The tiebreaker went to his Oberlin foe, 10-7.

No. 2 singles saw a defeat for Langovsky, as he dropped a 6-2, 6-2 loss. Beebe battled just as hard at No. 3, but fell 6-0, 6-2.

Sarnowski stayed successful at No. 4 singles after another lengthy bout. He won the first set, 7-5, before stumbling in the next set, 6-1. In the tiebreaker, he needed time, but he eventually secured a 10-8 tiebreaker conquest.

Rosabal experienced defeat at No. 5, 6-4, 6-1. Palinkas brought it home with a W, though, earning a 5-7, 6-4, 10-3 triumph.

John Carroll will be back at it on Sunday, as they'll play DePauw indoors at Cleveland State.
