Corey Minton's PR Highlights Mount Union Last Chance Meet for Men's Track & Field

Corey Minton broke the school record in the triple jump. 
ALLIANCE, Ohio -- With the 2022 NCAA Division III National Championships rapidly approaching, John Carroll Men's Track & Field looked to improve standing for next Thursday.

Corey Minton set a new PR and school record in the triple jump, highlighting the day for JCU. The junior hopped to a mark of 14.54m for first place in the event. The Alberta native now stands 22nd in NCAA D-III in the event. 

Cam Klauke ran the 100m, finishing the regular season off with a PR. The junior Michigander tallied a time of 11.12 in the finals. Victor Ononogbo also competed, notching a time of 11.31 in the prelims and 11.37 in the finals. 

Klauke and Ononogbo also raced in the 200m. Klauke carried a time of 22.10 and Ononogbo notched a time of 22.82.

Caleb Correia competed in the 800m, looking to shave some time off. The Toledoan couldn't quite do it, running a time of 1:55.18 for JCU. Michael Hvizdos clocked in at 1:57.92 in the event. 

In the field events, Matthew Russo competed in the shot put, tallying a mark of 14.27m. But he did his best work in the discus, setting a PR with a time of 46.50m. Zach Szafarski earned a mark of 51.31m in the hammer and Noah Schroeder followed at 42.40m. 

The 2022 NCAA Division III Championship selections will be announced Friday, May 20 in a press release on NCAA.com. The 2022 D-III outdoor track & field championships are from May 26-28 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
