FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Pure dominance paved the path for recognition this week for Andrew Perelka.

The star senior tabbed a 5-0 record at the Citrus Invitational, building on what's been a strong year for him.

As a result, Perelka is the Ohio Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week.

Perelka powered through the Florida competition on December 28 and 29. The Brecksville native simply dominated his foes en route to his 5-0 record. His journey started with a first-round victory via pin in just 43 seconds. His second match took more work, but the Brecksville-Broadview Heights grad won in clear fashion by tech fall, 16-1.

In the quarterfinals, Perelka rolled through with a pin in just 39 seconds. The semifinals took longer, but with the same result, a pin in 5:14. In the championship bout, Perelka secured a 20-4 tech fall victory over Benny Bautista of NYU.

Perelka can now claim a 21-3 record on the season, 108-21 for his career.

The OAC Wrestler of the Year award is the third in his extensive career.

Perelka and the Blue Streaks continue to train in the warm air of Florida, a respite from the Cleveland cold. The Blue Streaks are back in action at the Bobcat Duals in Miami on January 6.
