Men's Tennis Opens Spring Campaign with Two Losses at #12 Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio – When John Carroll Men's Tennis opened the spring campaign on Saturday, the Blue Streaks did it against one of the tougher teams in the country.

JCU opened the spring season at #12 Denison on Saturday, and did so on the road at Mitchell Field House in Granville.

The Blue Streaks were dealt identical 9-0 defeats in a doubleheader against the Big Red.

In the opening match, the Blue Streaks managed to do some damage, but not enough to win.

Logan Langovsky and Kevin Wacnik formed the #1 doubles duo and suffered an 8-3 loss. Grant Sarnowski and Anthony Markello formed the #2 team and lost, 8-1. Nathan Palinkas and Phillip Gorun kept it close at #3, 8-3.

In the singles portion, Palinkas made his man work the most, finishing last in a 6-2, 6-1 loss, but the Blue Streaks could not pull off a singles win.

In the latter match, the same JCU duo trotted out at #1 with a similar 8-3 loss. Sarnowski and Markello got closer at 8-2 at #2. At third doubles, Alvaro Rosabal and Palinkas suffered an 8-0 loss.

Luis Wentz saw the longest singles match, finishing last, but still saw a 6-2, 6-0 defeat.

The Blue Streaks will be back in action next weekend on Saturday at Walsh, playing inside at North Canton Racquet Club.
