Clark Qualifies For 400m Final on Second Day of NCAA Championships

| By:
Garrett Clark qualified for the finals of the NCAA Championships in the 400m, marking the fifth outdoor event he has made the national finals in during his career.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Garrett Clark punched his ticket to the finals in the 400m with a new school record of 46.65 seconds in the preliminaries of the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.  The mark tied him with Benedictine's D.J. Anderson as the fifth fastest qualifying time.

This will be the fifth event in the graduate student's career that he has qualified for the finals in at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.  The others are the 100m (2021), 200m (2021 and 2022), 4x100m relay (2019, 2022, and 2023), and 4x400m relay (2023).

John Carroll was the only team who qualified multiple runners in the 400m for nationals, but Basheer Alramahi missed out on the finals as he ran a 47.62 which was 14th best.

Clark will run three events on the final day of the NCAA Championships, as he will compete in the finals of the 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m relays.  Alramahi will compete on the 4x400m relay squad as well.

Mount Union's Matt McBride and Ohio Northern's Jordan Dean will represent the Ohio Athletic Conference along with Clark in the 400m finals.
