UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – For the first time in program history, John Carroll Men's Basketball can claim two preseason All-Americans.

Luke Chicone and Luke Frazier have been named to the D3hoops.com Preseason All-America men's basketball team.

The Blue Streaks' Luke's are poised to lead John Carroll to more success in 2024-25 following a banner campaign in 2023-24.

Luke Chicone makes the D3hoops.com Preseason All-American list for the second straight year. After a fourth team preseason selection, Chicone roared for a fantastic junior season and a second team All-America selection as JCU swept the Ohio Athletic Conference titles.

The Mentor native posted outstanding numbers in his second season at JCU. Chicone finished fourth in the OAC with 18.7 points per game. A great passer, Chicone notched 5.2 assists per game, second in the conference. Chicone also registered one of the best Division III marks in assist/turnover ratio (3.17). Additionally, Chicone accumulated 2.24 steals per game last season, which was second in the conference and fourth in program history.

The veteran is on record watch heading into his senior year at JCU. Chicone's 152 assists are tied for third all-time (with Corey Shontz, 2010-11), his 65 steals rank fourth, and his 543 points rank eighth. The former Cardinal currently is perched atop the career assists leaderboard at JCU with 5.0 assists per game. Chicone is just 20 points away from surpassing 1,000 for his JCU career. His career mark of 1.9 steals per game ranks fourth in JCU history.

Chicone also stood as the OAC Player of the Year, First Team All-OAC, and an OAC All-Tournament Team choice, plus First Team NABC All-District and First Team D3hoops.com All-Region honoree.

The Blue Streaks' success over the last two years would not have been possible without the incomparable Luke Frazier, too.

The star playmaker has thrived since arriving in University Heights, showcasing impressive shooting skills and an ability to change a game with an earth-shattering dunk.

Frazier earned plenty of accolades a season ago, though this is his first All-American honor despite garnering both NABC All-District and D3hoops.com All-Region honors.

Frazier finished third in the OAC with 18.9 points per game. The Mentor native also ranked in the top ten in the conference in both rebounds per game (6.3) and blocks per game (1.4). Frazier was an all-around force to be reckoned with for opponents all season.

The 6'6 guard secured Tournament MVP honors after playing a starring role in JCU's OAC Tournament conquest. Frazier stood as a First-Team All-OAC honoree at year's end. Frazier is closing in on 1,000 career points at John Carroll.

Only John Carroll and Washington U have two players on the D3hoops.com Preseason All-America team. One other player from the OAC was selected.
