A total of 17 JCU Basketball games will air on RESN, including 15 games live

CLEVELAND – The incredible partnership between John Carroll Athletics and the Rock Entertainment Sports Network (RESN) is set to expand this winter.

JCU and RESN have agreed to an expanded partnership in time for basketball season.

A total of 17 John Carroll Basketball games will air on RESN this season, including 15 games live on RESN. This year marks the addition of JCU Women's Basketball to the airwaves.

"We are thrilled with the continued growth of our relationship with RESN," said Brian Polian '97, Vice President for Athletics and National Engagement.  "The ability to raise brand awareness for John Carroll University, provide a platform for our championship level programs, and feature our incredible student-athletes is very impactful for the department and institution alike.  We look forward to another great sports season with the Blue Streaks on RESN!"

RESN is available on Spectrum across Northeast Ohio on Channel 979 in addition to free over-the-air access on channel 22.1 all across the state of Ohio. RESN reaches over 235,000 households across Northeast Ohio and over 1.35 million households in the state of Ohio.

"We are thrilled to deepen our partnership with the Blue Streaks," said Nicholas Hasenecz, Interim General Manager at Gray Local Media, Inc. "This extended collaboration allows us to continue delivering the high caliber, live local college sports that our viewers crave, and John Carroll University games consistently provide that thrilling, competitive experience."

John Carroll Athletics will continue to live stream all games for free on JCUSports.com/live, including games aired live on RESN. The Blue Gold Club's support helps ensure the live streams on JCUSports.com remain free.

The broadcast production will be almost completely staffed by students from the John Carroll Sports Information Department, with assistance from JCU Studios students. Dan Slentz and Jasen Sokol of the Tim Russert Department of Communication and freelance engineer Eric Simna '08, will provide guidance and technical expertise.

This fall, JCU and RESN successfully partnered to air 20 games live over the air (4 football, 6 men's soccer, 5 volleyball, and 5 women's soccer).

"Our students are enjoying this amazing opportunity, which is unique to John Carroll," said Sports Information Director Joe Ginley '16. "Our students are doing the directing, replay and graphics work, and camera operation in a professional setting. Very few Division III schools have partnerships as great as ours with RESN. We are grateful to Dan, Jasen, and Eric, along with Lisa McManus and the RESN leadership for making this possible for our students. A special thank you as well to Keri Alexander Luchowski at the NCAC for her help."

John Carroll Athletics will have several TV advertisement spots available for purchase, along with in-game sponsorship opportunities on air. Interested companies can reach out to Joe Ginley at jginley@jcu.edu
