The Blue Streaks beat Wilmington after losing to ONU and Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. – For a second straight weekend, John Carroll Men's Wrestling took a trip up to Michigan.

The Blue Streaks turned the second Michigan roadtrip into a victory.

John Carroll finished 1-2 at the 2025 Olivet Comet Duals, losing to Ohio Northern, 31-16 and host Olivet, 26-16, before rebounding for a concluding 42-10 victory over Wilmington.

Brett Stanley enjoyed a strong day with another leading performance. The Blue Streaks' 125-pound standout notched two impressive wins vs. ONU and Olivet, both via fall. Stanley is having a heck of a sophomore season, fresh off winning his bracket last weekend in Michigan at the Albion Invitational.

Aiden Ashburn picked up the most wins for the Blue Streaks, the lone grappler to notch three victories. The veteran roared for a pin in just 1:42 vs. his Polar Bear foe. His bout against his fellow 174-pounder from Olivet proved closer, but the Westlake native powered through a 7-2 decision. His win vs. Wilmington was via the forfeit variety.

While JCU lost to ONU, Will Allen emerged with a nice 4 points. The first year's 15-6 major decision stood as a nice highlight.

The defeat to host Olivet was difficult but not without its high points. Will Allen's thrilling 7-4 conquest in sudden victory was a perfect example. Bear Horgan also fired up a 13-5 conquest at 197.

John Carroll's win over Wilmington saw many young grapplers soar for strong wins. Bobby Tupa started things with a 13-4 major decision at 125. Alex Crane ripped a quick pin win at 133 and Adam Sharpley picked up a hard-earned 23-7 tech fall. Drew Connelly picked up a 5-1 decision at 165 and fellow sophomore Niko Kalamaras also thrived with a first-period pin. Jacob Holtz closed it out with a nice pin of his own.
