The Blue Streaks built an early lead and never looked back

TIFFIN, Ohio – In the opening dual of the 2025-26 season, John Carroll Men's Wrestling looked fantastic.

The Blue Streaks stormed past Heidelberg University at Seiberling Gymnasium, firing up an early lead and never looking back.

John Carroll secured a 37-11 victory over the Student Princes, marking the sixth win in the last seven meetings between the two programs.

Brett Stanley started things well at 125 with a 16-2 major decision. Alex Crane secured an 8-1 decision, the closest match of the day, at 133.Ā

Ty Daugherty looked dominant at 141, roaring for a 12-2 major decision. Kyle Bizjak struck what would be the killer blow, a 10-0 major decision, at 149. Christian Friel followed that up with a 19-3 tech fall in 4:28, completing a fantastic 20-0 run to start the match for JCU.

Heidelberg secured a win at 165 via tech fall, though Gabe Galioto battled for a long time. Aiden Ashburn got JCU back on the board with a first-period fall at 174.Ā

A second-period pin got the Berg back in the scoring column at 184, but that would be all for the Student Princes. Bear Horgan constructed a comfortable lead before finishing off his foe in the second period for a pin and six points. Thomas Lunt attacked early and often with plentiful takedowns at 285. The heavyweight star felt in control the whole way, and finished things out with a 17-1 tech fall for the final score of 37-11.
