Home Opener Results in Dominant Win over Berg for Women's Swimming & Diving

The Blue Streaks looked great at Johnson Natatorium

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – There is nothing quite like being at home. 

John Carroll Women's Swimming & Diving has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign, but nothing beats the Johnson Natatorium.

The Blue Streaks rolled to a 165.45-46.5 victory over Heidelberg University on Friday evening in the first home action of the campaign.

The evening began with a nice win for JCU in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Audrey Sevald, Kami Contakis, Bree Shirkey, and Mairin Dalziel clipped a time of 1:55.

Results

On the distance side, Ella Muzychak conquered the competition in the 1000 Free with a mark of 11:00.42. Mairin Dalziel followed soon at 11:03.28. Muzychak did the trick again in the 500 Free, easily beating the field with a time of 5:26.93.

Bree Shirkey claimed the W in the 200 Free, touching the wall in 1:58.61. The star swam to a triumph in the 200 IM, as well, clocking in at 2:17.86. Dalziel showed her versatility with a win in the 100 Free after swimming the 1000 Free, quite impressive. 

Audrey Sevald snagged a close win in the 50 Butterfly, touching the wall in 27.52 for a narrow triumph. For an encore, she beat out the field in the 50 Backstroke, firing up a time of 27.87.

The day ended with a victory in the 200 Free Relay. Dalziel, Shirkey, Contakis, and JJ Gowetski strolled for a triumph with a time of 1:43.01. 

In the diving, Catherine Braniecki tallied a score of 175.35 on the 1 Meter board.

The Blue Streaks will be back at home again, hosting Denison University next Saturday in North Coast Athletic Conference action.
