Jake Corll Honored as OAC Pitcher of the Week

Corll is JCU's first OAC Pitcher of the Week since April 2023

WESTERVILLE — The Ohio Athletic Conference awarded their Pitcher of the Week to John Carroll junior Jake Corll after a stunning effort in Florida.

The Austintown Fitch alum pitched in two victories for the Blue Streaks against Concordia College (Minn.) and Albion.

Against the Cobbers, Corll pitched 4.1 innings and gave up two runs on five hits, while striking out six. This effort led the Blue Streaks to their first win of the season, 6-2 in a seven-inning bout vs. Concordia.

Corll then put together a gem when the Blue Streaks needed it most. After Albion ended JCU's 5-game winning streak (which saw John Carroll only put together one hit in a 1-0 loss) Corll rallied the troops. The star tossed a one-hitter of his own, going all seven innings, striking out three in a 9-0 victory.

Jake Corll has been given a bigger role in the pitching staff this spring, and so far he has produced in a big way. The last time a Blue Streak won the OAC Pitcher of the Week award was April 10, 2023, when Matthew Aukerman won the accolade.

Corll and the Blue Streaks return to action this weekend, with a 3-game series against the University of Mary Washington Eagles.
