Women's Tennis Upended at #8 Carnegie Mellon

JCU dropped its second straight match

PITTSBURGH – As Easter break began on Wednesday, John Carroll Women's Tennis headed to the Steel City. 

The Blue Streaks experienced a stout challenge, heading to face the #8 team in Division III, the Carnegie Mellon University.

The Tartans certainly played like a top-10 team, handing John Carroll a 7-0 defeat.

Carnegie Mellon swept the doubles play. Madi Davila and Caroline Chandler fell first at #3 doubles, 6-0. Emma Smith and Felicity Kolb dropped next at #2, 6-1. Maddie Kavenagh and Evelyn Deren lasted the longest in a 6-3 loss.

Kavenagh fell in the first matchup of singles play at #1, 6-0, 6-1. Davila dropped next at #4, 6-2, 6-0. Carnegie Mellon clinched the match with a victory at #6, 6-2, 6-0. 

Smith lost next, 6-1, 6-1 at #5. Deren was defeated at her #2 bout, 6-1, 6-0. Kolb was the last to fall in a 6-1, 6-2 defeat.

The Blue Streaks will return home on Wednesday, April 23 vs. Baldwin Wallace University for an Ohio Athletic Conference showdown at the Short Family Tennis Center.
