Men's Lacrosse Stumbles at Ohio Northern

The Blue Streaks lost the penultimate game of the regular season

ADA, Ohio – The topsy-turvy season continued for John Carroll Men's Lacrosse on Friday.

The Blue Streaks dropped the penultimate game of the regular season in a disappointing road defeat.

Ohio Northern bested John Carroll, 14-7, dropping JCU to 8-6 overall, 6-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

A 3-0 ONU run to start the game signaled what kind of day it would be for John Carroll. Goals by Sean Keane and Braden Zarek softened the blow, but the Polar Bears still held a 4-2 lead after the first.

ONU started the second with back-to-back goals. Zarek and Keane did help JCU respond with a 2-1 run, but JCU still trailed at halftime by three, 7-4.

While Josh Lombardo began the third quarter with a goal off a Billy Paladino assist. But overall, the period belonged to the Polar Bears. ONU went on a 3-goal run to double up the Blue Streaks, 10-5. While Seamus Nicholson did score with just a minute left in the quarter, a comeback did not materialize.

ONU showcased killer instinct with a 4-goal run, putting things out of reach in the fourth.

In his first game back, Zarek tied for the team lead in goals with Keane. Nicholas Yemma topped the team with 7 groundballs, followed by Camden Uchic and Josh Lombardo with five apiece. Ivan Roeder led the defense with 3 caused turnovers.
