Baseball Ends Regular Season with a Loss to Case Western Reserve

The Blue Streaks now turn their attention to the OAC Tournament

CLEVELAND – A difficult week concluded on Sunday for John Carroll Baseball.

The Blue Streaks concluded the regular season with a loss to #17 Case Western Reserve University, 11-1, as the Spartans won the 3-game season series.

But this is not the end for the Blue Streaks, as John Carroll's season will continue. The Blue Streaks will be the #4 seed in the upcoming Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament.

This is regardless of the Mount Union-Muskingum game that was in a rain delay as of 7:30 pm tonight. If Muskingum (10-7) beats Mount Union, then Ohio Northern would be the OAC Regular Season Champion. JCU (11-7) split with ONU, while Muskingum was swept by the Polar Bears, so JCU owns that tiebreaker. If Muskingum loses to Mount Union or the game is called, then JCU has the better winning percentage than Muskinugm and gets in.

As for today's non-conference game game, Erik Daugenti got JCU on the board in the second with an RBI single. But from there, it was all Spartans.

Roger Simon pitched 3 scoreless innings, but the bullpen was ineffective after that, minus Owen Gerba. The senior did not allow a run in a scoreless sixth inning.

JCU mustered just 4 hits in the game against the #17 Spartans.
