Football Picked Third in NCAC Preseason Coaches Poll

The Blue Streaks received three of nine first-place votes

CLEVELAND – A new era for John Carroll Athletics has arrived with entrance to the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Friday marked the first preseason poll release, as the football coaches poll has been announced.

John Carroll received three first-place votes, but finished third in the NCAC preseason poll.

The Blue Streaks garnered 64 points, one point behind second-place Wabash. DePauw, the reigning NCAC Champions, topped the poll with 75 points, including five first-place votes.

A year ago, the Blue Streaks reached the NCAA Playoffs for the first time since 2018, earning an at-large bid. John Carroll won a home first-round game before falling in the second round, ending the year with a 9-3 overall record. 

In each of the past three years, John Carroll accumulated an 8-1 mark in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Entering the season, John Carroll carries a #25 national preseason ranking from D3football.com. JCU's week two opponent, Johns Hopkins, tallied a #3 ranking via D3football. DePauw enters as the #14 team in the national poll. 

John Carroll will open the campaign at Waynesburg on Saturday, September 6. JCU's home opener and first NCAC contest is set for Saturday, September 20 vs. Oberlin.
